Fernández began her TV career in 1983 with positions at KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs and KEYT-TV in Santa Barbara. In 1985, she joined KTLA in Los Angeles as a reporter and weekend anchor.

She became nationally famous with roles at CBS News and NBC News, serving as a correspondent and anchor for programs such as CBS Early Show, CBS Evening News, Today, and NBC Nightly News. Notably, she was the first Latina to anchor her own Sunday edition of NBC Nightly News. (giselle.com)
