Jean Martirez is a Filipino-American journalist best known for her 17-year run as co-anchor of the KTTV FOX 11 Morning News and Good Day LA in Los Angeles, where she worked alongside Tony McEwing.
She began at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri, as a weekend anchor and reporter. She then moved to WXII in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, serving as a morning anchor and reporter. (New York Women in Film & Television)
She held anchor and reporter positions at KGBT (CBS affiliate) in Harlingen, Texas; KSAT (ABC affiliate) in San Antonio, Texas; and KCNC (then NBC, now CBS affiliate) in Denver, Colorado.
In October 1995, Martirez joined KTTV in Los Angeles as a general assignment reporter. She was promoted to anchor in 1996, co-anchoring the FOX 11 Morning News and later the 10 a.m. and noon newscasts. (LA Observed)
Martirez’s time at KTTV ended in October 2012. Her departure followed the exits of other prominent anchors, including Dorothy Lucey and Jillian Reynolds.
Born on January 19, 1963, in Chicago, she is a first-generation Filipino-American of mixed Filipino and Spanish heritage. She is married to Timothy J. Barton, and they have two children. The family resides in Malibu, California. (InformationFlare)
