Sonya Crawford is a Korean-born former broadcast journalist known for her work in both local and national news media. She began her career in Seoul, South Korea, working as a features reporter for Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), where she covered the 1988 Summer Olympics. She later reported for Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona .
After moving to the United States, Crawford worked in radio, writing for KNX 1070 and serving as a reporter and assistant producer on Public Radio International’s “Marketplace.” From 1994 to 1997, she was an associate producer at “Dateline NBC” in Los Angeles, earning an Emmy Award for her work on the O.J. Simpson trial . She then joined KNBC-TV in Los Angeles in 1999 as a reporter and substitute anchor, focusing on stories that highlighted the impact of religious faith in people’s lives .(ABC News)
Crawford holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and communication from Stanford University. She has been actively involved with the Asian American Journalists Association, serving as a national board member . She is also on the board of directors of Lionshare, a Christian evangelical organization .
Married to Darren Bearson, a former executive at the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity and a former Republican Party functionary . They have relocated to Minnesota, where she is dedicated to her family and continues her involvement in faith-based initiatives . (4word)
