Steve Edwards, born in New York City, retired. Television and radio personality known for his work in LA TV News. Longtime host of Fox 11’s Good Day L.A., from 1995 – December 2017 .
Began his broadcasting in the late 1960s at KMSC radio in Clear Lake City, Texas, then to KTRH in Houston. In television, he worked at KHOU-TV in Houston and later at WLS-TV in Chicago. He hosted AM Chicago and Friday Night with Steve Edwards. In 1978, then to LA TV news, contributing to KNXT (now KCBS-TV) as an entertainment editor. L.A. also included working at KABC-TV, where he hosted AM Los Angeles, and KCAL-TV’s Live in L.A. .
Recognized with Governor’s Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
In December 2017, Edwards was relieved of his duties from Good Day L.A. amid allegations of sexual harassment. While Fox 11 confirmed his departure, they did not provide specific reasons. Reports from various outlets suggested that the dismissal was linked to these allegations .
Following his departure from television, Edwards continued to engage with audiences through radio and podcasts. He served as a fill-in host at KABC radio and launched two podcasts: OK LA, co-hosted with former Good Day L.A. colleagues Jillian Barberie and Dorothy Lucey, and Steve Edwards Confessions, featuring in-depth interviews with newsmakers.
In 2023, Edwards made a public appearance on Fox 11, during the retirement of his former colleague Tony McEwing .
