Tom Brokaw was a reporter in Los Angeles early in his career. In the 1960s, he worked for KNBC, the NBC-owned television station in LA, where he covered major local and national stories. His reporting at KNBC helped him gain recognition, eventually leading to his promotion to the network level, where he became a White House correspondent and later the anchor of NBC Nightly News.
